some of us thought her reiterated statement that "we are a gentle people" seemed a bit ironic during the commemoration of a riot.
In one respect the crazies were useful. Their unhappy hate-filled faces effectively contrasted with the obvious happiness of the gay people.
A few random observations: During the parade the Integrity/Cleveland group countered some of the screaming crazies by singing the Doxology:
We were glad to see Fran Dostal, a long-time friend of our community, walking with us this year.
And there were other nongay frienas. Scouting for a restaurant during the rally, a Clevelander passed a group of obviously straight older men who introduced themselves as members of PFLAG.
When a member of the Chronicle staff asked a photographer for one of the straight papers why she was concentrating exclusively on
oup of dancing mustached drag queens, she almost tearfully explained that her reporter had instructed her to do so.
Seen on Shirts
Smile if you are gay. An army of lovers will not
fall.
My God loves me and He knows I'm gay.
Nuke a gay whale for Christ. Out of the closets and into the streets.
It takes balls to be a fairy.
Gay and proud. Better gay than grumpy.
